Sweet Basil is an annual herb of the genus Lamiaceae, native to Egypt. It has a strong and pleasant characteristic aroma. The tender stems and leaves of sweet basil can be used for salad dressing, stir-fry, soup, stuffing and hot pot side dishes, or sun-dried and ground into powder, added to flour to make various pasta, or used as meat condiment or tea. It also has medicinal health value which can treat stomach cramps, kidney disease and bruises, improve digestion, eliminate malaise, improve eyesight and many more.
